The Almighty Sketchbook

I love the time I spend in my sketch book. I usually spend an hour to two hours at the end of the day sitting up in bed drawing. In that time I try to bust out two to three pages usually consisting of a blend of referenced and non referenced anatomy from various pose books and a page of imaginative work. I also date the beginning page of each sketch book and wind up filling one every three months it seems. Point is sketchbooks are awesome.

Btw I love non-photo blue leads.

Back ...dust off those webs.

I love the fall ,I love October, I love Halloween and I Horror. Recently I have been reading and watching and absorbing everything Slenderman Mythos related. I like the idea that its like a legend born from the internet still collectively and collaboratively being formed.

anyway here is some art:

and an homage to old horror somewhat of a mashup:

Thanks for looking!

New Year started off good! I did this piece for the Crimson Daggers Bloodsport #2, and won!! I was really grateful I did. Really didn't think i was going to get it, the competition was good, I didn't quite like the rendering in the piece, and was nervous about the design. Dave Rapoza and Dan Warren had some nice things to say about it. Gave me a good boost in confidence cause I respect their opinion a lot.

Oh and here are the studies that were mandatory (not that i wouldn't do them anyway) to enter.

"Back off my ride"

I'll start with the latest finished work. I tried to really focus on nailing that lighting in a snow storm. Somewhat successful, the tight value range was hard to pull out texture from. But the fur was really the worst. I studied fur before hand, but still failed at it. Oh well I'm moving on.
